tethered spine

Yes my name is jason and i have been diagnosed with a tethered spine when i was about twenty one.  I had three surgeries and also had gotten spinal meningitis.  My bladder doesn't function properly and neither does my bowels.  I also am prone to urinary infections because i have to self cath my self every time i have to go.  I am twenty six now and it seems like my problems have gotten worse i really have trouble holding my urine it seems like i can not get to the bathroom fast enough.  I have migraines if i over do myself doing normally activities.  I recently had a not come up on the left side of my neck and i have trouble swollowing can this be related i do have a doctors apointment but i am worried and cant seem to wait to find out.  also is there any treatments out there to take care of any of my problems i would apreciate it for some info.

Hi Jason...I was recently dx with TC also....I have not had surgery, but I do know it can be related to many other conditions.I also have DDD, cervical spinal stinosis, and chiari malformation.

We have a chiari forum here on MedHelp...u may find others that can offer support and similar info.

Our number one issues we inform all is to find a dr that is a specialist in the field of chiari.Most if not all chiari drs also treat related conditions  like syringomyelia and tethered cord.
