throbbing throughout the body

Hello recently im able to feel my heart beat or a throbbing feeling without pain in my cheeks, head, arms, hands, chest, and legs. But moslty my cheeks, it doesn't hurt or anything just very annoying.I recently got a number of test done cbc, lipid panel, elecktroylite, and my blood pressure taking which were all good.I didnt get alot of sleep before this started to happen but now i barely get any which I think is making it worse.I am aslo congested in the face and got medicine to solve the problem but that didn't work. Could that be causing the pulsing in the face?

I have also been noticing an overall throbbing throughout my body.  It isn't painful but it is unsettling.  I find that the throbbing is worse in my midsection around the area below my ribs.  I also notice it is worse in the morning as soon as I wake up.  I was going to get my blood pressure taken because this is the only thing I could think it could be.  I have been on an extremely healthy diet the last month so I don't understand why I would have high blood pressure.  My stress level is better than it used to be and why would it be anxiety if it is worse as soon as I wake up?  Is it common for people to feel anxiety when they are still waking up and are groggy?

I have the exact same thing that all of you are talking about.  I have had it for about 5-6 months now.  I started out with severe head pain and anxiety, and that is now pretty much gone, but this throbbing is still there.  It is so strange, had normal brain MRI, CT Scan, normal heart tests, normal blood work, the neurologist that i saw told me that i was crazy and that is was probably stress related.  Please let me know if any of you find something out.  Very frustrating and weird.

These symptoms are not in our area of expertise (neurology and neurosurgery) and the symptoms do nto suggest a problem with the nerves.

Its possible that there is a local sinus infection or other local nidus of inflammation in the facial area that is causing the facial symptoms. Its also possible that a systemic condition such as an overactive thyroid gland could cause the symptoms. Also, there may be a problem with heart rhythm itseld - this could be checked out by your doctors.

Good luck

scarabrad,

Your symptoms sound like mine, especially the legs going out from under you part...I keep telling doctors that I feel like I'm going to pass out but never do and I'm pretty sure I never will.  They call that near syncape but because I am so sure I'm not going to fall over, I don't think that is the right thing to call it.  Sometimes at night, I get that pounding in my head and it's totally painless but it is still freaky.  I still don't buy into that anxiety thing...I think that is just what doctors say when they don't know what the heck else it could be.  I don't think there is any way to be 100 percent sure that anxiety is the culprit....what doctor would give that diagnosis? That underlying feeling that something is wrong is always going to be there until you don't feel like something is wrong anymore...

http://www.liv.ac.uk/counserv/anxiety.htm  all my symptoms are described there I think all of this is anxiety related. I guess I have to put up with this until all of this goes away. As i continue to think about all the possible things that can be wrong, this will continue to happen.

Same thing with me...the throbbing is generally fatigue related.  Particularly bad at night, just before bed.  If I have my hand on the back of my head, I can feel each pulse of an artery underneath my finger tip, in synchrony with my pounding (but not tachycardic) heart.  It's almost as though my body is hyper-vigilent or hyper-sensitive to its normal functions, secondary to the generalized stress/anxiety I have been experiencing.  I also have generalized dysequilibrium where I just feel "off-kilter" and that my legs might drop out from under me...they never do and I have never fallen.

I am an otherwise healthy 34 yo...normal stress test, MRI brain and inner auditory canal, normal MRI C-spine, normal blood work, but under a lot of stress.  If I were 100% certain that this were all related to anxiety, I could "relax" a bit.  I am still somewhat concerned that there is more going on;  thus, the workup continues.

Persistent throbbing on specific points of the body and all over too, is also a classical neuropathy associated to some medications like antimalarians (lariam), antibiotics (cipro, levaquin,), antirheumatics, modulators of the inmune system, anticancer drugs, and many more.

The most frequently involved drugs are antibiotics because they are the most prescribed.

Hey there.  I've got identical symptoms as you're describing...mine have been going on for about 6-12 months and have been intimately associated with on-off anxiety and panic (for almost 2 years), unfortunately for which no medicine has truly helped.  I use clonazepam 0.25 mg as needed (as frequently as twice per day--very rarely, as infrequently as once per 3 weeks).  Let me know what you find out.  I am going to see a very highly regarding neurologist on Thursday and will let you know if I dig up any information.

Cheers.

Do you think a lack of sleep can cause all of this and since im not sleeping that much its not going away?It doesn't make sense i can sleep 8hrs a day for a week and still have slight throbbing but not as annoying, then i go back to 3 or 4hr a day and i feel like ****.

Also I forgot to add the throbbing or beat corresponds with my heart beat. Also i recently went to the doctor about neck weakness after falling off of my roof and he did a nerve examination of the shoulders up and he said there was nothing wrong. My vision and hearing is fine but since im congested always feel like my ears need to be popped. Please someone tell me what can be going on.
