Forum: The Neurology and Neurosurgery Forum

Dear Dr.,
Over the last 5 months I have been experiencing tingling sensations.  I first noticed
it in my right hand.  Within a few days it spread to my left hand and then both my
lower legs.  I had these sensations for 2-3 months although  it was always changing,
almost never in all my extremeties at the same time.  One day in my hand, later in the
day my foot or just a couple of toes.  Very unpredicable.  I started seeing a Neurologist who had me undergo the following tests:  MRI of the cervicle and another
of the brain, EMG, visual evoke and blood tests.  I'm not exactly sure what the blood
work was looking for other than a vitamin b-12 deficiancy.  All of the test results have
been completely normal.  The Neurologist told me basically that he could not find
anything neurologically wrong with me.  We have a friend who is a chiropractor.  He
asked me to come in once all the testing was done.  He took x-rays of my neck and
spine and discovered that my spine had rotated and was not straight (vertically)  he
said that it was out of place enough to be pressing up against the nerves coming from my neck and that could be giving bazaar symptoms.  After being treated 3X week for approx. 6 weeks, all of the tingling has been eliminated except for my right hand and arm, which is now very troublesome.  My index and middle finger are often numb (although I generally have a little feeling in them) I have recently started experiencing a severe burning sensation and my wrist is quite sore and a little swollen.  It has always been the worst at night and early morning.  There have been many nights when the pain and discomfort has awakened me or kept me awake all night.  I'm sorry to be so lenghty but I don't know whats important and whats not.  I should also mention that for the last 10 years or so I've had very occaisional ocular migranes (migraines) and often have days when I don't feel mentally sharpe (make embarrasing mistakes, read things incorrectly, don't remember some things) I may just have a mild learning disability and I do have a son who is high functioning PDD. Can you offer any advice? I'm at my wits end.  We have very poor health insurance and have maxed it out.  I can't afford to spend a lot of money on needless tests, but are there some more that are neccesary?  I also didn't mention that I am a 37 year old female who has always been in otherwise good health.  Thank you in advance for your assistance!
