I have symptoms of sciatica - should I see a neurologist, orthopedic specialist, or both?

There are many treatment options before slicing and dicing is necessary. The first step after a 3T MRI should be a physican rehab specialist who will train you in a number of helpful exercises to reduce swelling and pain. Well worth the money to have this advice.  Cutters like to recommend cutting. A laminectomy should be a last option.

from my experience your best bet would be neurologist.. ive had herniated disks in lower back and they were able to organise mri and other tests required. depending on where you are my have to go through a gp first to get referral.
good luck..
