treatment of brain tumour in temporal lobe

by becky000, Jun 04, 2008 09:45AM
Hi,
My partner was diagnosed with a  first grade brain tumour three years ago, it is about 2.5 cm in diameter, and is situated in the temporal lobe. He has just undergone a biopsy to determine what type of tumour it actually is, the results of which we hope to get in the next few days. What I would like to know is, what are the chances of his neuro surgeon being able to remove the tumour, bearing in mind, its location. And if it is inoperable what tr3eatment is available to him. He is 28

Thanks

Becky

Hello Dear,

Generally, care of patients with a brain tumor is multidisciplinary, requiring assistance from a neurosurgeon, an oncologist, a radiologist, and an expert in radiation therapy. Management varies greatly depending on tumor location, tissue type, and comorbid conditions. Surgical treatment options may include tumor removal or debulking, installation of a ventricular shunt, and placement of radioactive implants.
