I had some problems years ago with ulnar nerve scarring which resulted in symptoms similar to carpal tunnell. Both the carpal tunnel nerve and ulnar nerve end up passing thru a common area in the wrist. The difference of which is felt in which fingers you feel the numbness and tingling in which fingers. They are almost identical in symptoms and at first they thought i had carpal tunnel syndrome but my nerve conduction studies showed the problem. My physiotherapist knew all along which nerve was being affected and was treating me before the tests came back.
With special plastic splints made out for my wrists and the physio i didnt miss a day of work and ended up pain free in about six months without surgery. I do have the odd flare up which last maybe a day but i put the splints on my wrists and rest the elbow and im much better.
I kinda wonder now if my problems could have been related to my neck in the end as now i have a herniated disk which is pretty much toast. I also have the same area affected on my neck as you do. My MRi revealed a mess in the area.
Go see your MD, ask for a MRi, cat scan and neuro consult. Get the ball rolling. Take each day as it comes. Get some medications and antiinflammatories to help reduce the swelling and ease the pain. im into month four and its been a long road but the end is in sight. Also get out to a physiotherapist or chiropractor to help you. Ultrasound and Rf treatments can help alleviate some of the problems. Also find someone to talk to, cry on their shoulder you need to let it out!!
