understanding different forms of migraine

  Dear Doctor,
I've been having tingling/crawling sensations situated in my scalp and sometimes travelling to my ears and nose for several months now.  These symptoms, combined with a tired weakness and unsteadiness in my legs prompted me to see my GP, who referred me to a neurologist.  I saw the neurologist Tuesday:  he did his examination and told me I had a form of migraine, prescribed Tanacet (feverfew), and told me to come back in six weeks, as I'd probably be "feeling much better" by then.
I was very surprised by his diagnosis, and consequently wasn't prepared to ask many relevant questions.  I've had "classic" migraines (one or two a year) since I was in my teens.  This is nothing like that, there's no pain but he simply told me that there are different forms of migraine.  Could you help me understand these different forms, and tell me what kind of  migraine he may have diagnosed me with?  I have this tingling 5--10 times a day, sometimes for hours at a time.  Do some migraines last that long?  Is feverfew beneficial in these situations?  How long can a migraine last?

I've searched your postings archive and they've helped me learn lot as well.  Any extra insight you could provide would mean alot,

  Thanks for your time,
  Irene

Maybe I am missing out on something because in contrast to you doctor I
only have the benefit of a few lines over the internet as opposed to a
full face to face evaluation, for this reasion I am reluctant to
contradict the physician on-the-spot.
Having said this however I have to say that nothing in your description
of symptoms would have suggested a diagnosis of migraine to me.
They do not suggest any serious undelying pathology or specific diagnosis
either. I would suggest that you obtain some more details from you own
doctor as to the basis for this diagnosis and please feel free to
repost with further questions.
At this point though I cannot see where this diagnosis is coming from.
