unintentioned vagotomy

My daughter had 2 nissan fundoplications at 11 and 12 years of age and two years after the second nissan it was determined that her vagal nerve was either severed or entrapped and has a 5% stomach motility rate.  She has had a gastric jejunostomy (unsuccessful), at the age of 17 and a gastric stimulator at the age of 18.  She has been getting frequest aspiration pneumonias (every 2 to 3 months) for the past 3 years and the Mayo Clinic just diagnosed her with Pharyngeal Dysphasia.  I know that the vagal nerve is throughout the body, but is it possible that the pharynegeal dysphasia (which we were told is medically uncorrectable, with the exception of a feeding tube) can possibly come from the severed vagal nerve?  She is generally hospitalized 4 to 6 times a year with pneumonia and the last visit she had two pulmonary emboli (and we still don't know where they came from).  It seems that after the severed nerve most of her other problems emerged.  The question is....can a severed vagas nerve in the stomach cause problems in other parts of the body?

I am going through the same thing yet not as complicated yet.  i have had 3 nissens and just this Jan found out from the Mayo Clinic that my vagal nerve was severed during that 2006 surgery. I have had some problems for about 9 months. They DRs have been trying me on different meds with no luck. the next step is the stimulator in the stomach. I do not know if I want that or if I would rather them just take the majority of my stomach out to prevent any more complications and future surgeries. What is your advice on that? I feel so sorry for your daughter. I am 32 a mother and a wife. This has totally changed all of our lives. I am no longer working due to medications and nausea. It has affected my back and three weeks ago I came down with the Bells Palsy, which can be caused from the vagal nerve inflammation in the head.
