: I have upper body pain/spasms sometimes several times a day, but at least
once a day. The pain is burning and constricting begining at my upper
abdomen, spreading up my chest, upper back, both arms, neck, jaws. I have
to attempt to become completely still, which is difficult as I find myself
trying to move my upper body to find a painless position, which does not happen.
The spasms last for a few minutes and lately have been waking me from a
sound sleep (I take 75 mg elavil at bedtime)I have been diagnosed with
Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Fibromyalgia, and Trigeminal Neuralgia with,
possible Sjogren's Syndrome. I have not seen any descriptions of my upper
body symptoms in any literature about any of theses disorders. has anyone else
experienced this type of pain and can you give me an idea of what causes it?
  I appreciate any responses.
=Dear Lori, By the history you have provided me, I am unable to give you an explanation for the pain disorder you describe.  It does not fit any of the known pain descriptions associated with the diseases of the peripheral nerves.  Since this is becoming more of a problem, you may wish to discuss with your physician about evaluation by a neurologist or pain management specialist.  In addition, you may wish to discuss additional treatment options such as the usage of Neurontin to see if you can obtain better pain control.  Hope this helps.  "This information is provided for general medical education purposes only.  Please consult your physician for diagnostic and treatment options of your specific medical condition."
