vertigo and swooshing in the ear

by anabelle441, Nov 26, 2007 02:58AM
hi, ive been hearing a really strange swooshing noise in my right ear that seems to be pulsating along with my blood pressure. ive had this for about 3 years now. i can hardly hear anything else but this noise in my right ear. the left is fine. to top that, for about 2 or 3 months now, ive been experiencing extreme vertigo, with the sensation that i am actually rocking back and forth. if i sit or stand still, i feel like my entire body is rocking and moving forward and backward. it seems involuntary. the vertigo feels like i am in a boat on some waves or something. if i lie down, i feel like my bed is moving violently. im pretty scared, but i havent been to a dr. i dunno if it could be a brain tumor. whats more is that two nights in a row i woke up from hearing/feeling a sort of 'squeek' in my ear or inside my head. that was so disturbing. im so scared about all of this. i heard it could be anxiety...but im just sooo scared.

I had the vertigo less than a month ago, was same rocky as if i am in a boat.

It was for like 3-4  days and went by itself, but i coudnt feeling the dizzness when I sat down or lie.

I also got ear problems for a while(years) now and today i went for the hearing test, they say my hearing test is all good and couldnt be ear infection.

Plus i am getting this head pressure in my head so much.

We are basically in the same boat of worry.

Good luck, have hope.

Hi Anabelle,
First thing first you should get yourself evaluated by a Cardiologist and also a Neurologist.
Anxiety disorder can also have similar symptoms.
Most patients with true vertigo have a peripheral vestibular disorder, such as benign positional vertigo. This is usually associated with tinnitus and hearing loss.
Vertigo is the illusion that you - or your surroundings - are moving. You may feel that you are spinning, tilting, rocking, or falling through space. You may vomit or have ringing in the ears (tinnitus).
Certain forms of Migraine can cause similar symptoms and also Transient Ischemic Attacks.
