vision and heartbeat in ear

Dear Doctors,

First of all thanks for this wonderfull opportunity!

I have two questions if I may:

1.
I suffered three minor strokes (clotting problem) and in May I had trouble with my vision as well, which was diagnosed as a clot.

Now it appears that my vision is still not 100%. It's not really sharp, and it has nothing to do with a need for glasses so it appeared yesterday. It was quite a shock, because I hoped that it would be better now.

Will it be 100% again? Or is this the best it can get?

2.
I have a strange sound in my ear: the beat of my heart. It is only one ear. Does this mean anything or is it just annoying?

Thanks

Mariette

If your vision is related to muscle problem, then there is hope. You need to find a specialized doctor who trains vision impairment.  Basically it is a series of exercises that teaches you again how to contol your eye muscles. While I went there for a different condition, he had a book of testimonial letters from people who had strokes whom he taught.

Dear Mariette:

Sorry that your having trouble with your vision and hearing.  If your minor stroke effected the visual cortex then likely your vision may not return to 100 %.  Alot depends on the location of the stroke.  If the vision is effected, i.e. double vision due to a stroke to the cortical area affecting the way the eye muscles work, then your vision should get better over time.  If your cerebellum was affected then depending on where the stroke occurred would affect your vision.  So, without knowing where the stroke occurred, I can't tell you much.  Did the heart beat sound in your ear begin after one of the strokes?  It might just be that you need to have your ears cleaned.  If it occurred with one of the strokes, again depending on where the location of the stroke occurred, would tell if this sound will go away.

Sorry, I can't help you more.

Sincerely,

CCF Neuro MD
