Without the ability to examine you and obtain a history, I can not tell you what the exact cause of your symptoms is. However I will try to provide you with some useful information.
The quick answer to your question is yes, the symptoms you describe above can be very typical of a condition called migraine with aura. Aura is basically a symptom that occurs prior to a main neurologic event. In your case, your aura preceded your headache. It is more common in women, and symptoms may include transient vision loss, flashes of light in the peripheral visual field, or other similar symptoms lasting usually 30 minutes or less. Headache , if it is going to occur, typically begins within 60 minutes; headache follows the vision symptoms rather than occurring simultaneously at the onset. The headache is typically one-sided, throbbing, and may be associated with nausea and light-sensitivity.
Different migraine/migraine-variant triggers. These include lack of sleep, over-sleeping, chocolate, wine, and several others. If you have not experienced headaches in the past and just now are experiencing your first migraine, it would be a good idea to be evaluated by a neurologist to make sure nothing else is going on. There are specific medications for migraine that can be taken at the onset (for example, during the aura) that can help prevent further the headache from becoming severe. If these migraines recur and/or are severe, sometimes migraine prophylaxis with medications such as calcium channel blockers such as verapamil may be helpful.

I am 33 yo male in NJ This past sunday, I awoke with a blurred vision out of my right eye. After a ct scan I was
also initially diagnosed with colloid cyst, on 3rd ventriclurla monroe. I am wondering what to do as the blurriness and discomfort on the right eye has not gone away (almost 7 days later)
How long do I have until I need to have surgery??
Thank you for your response,It seems to fit,I will go to my doctor and get checked out to rule out other possible problems. As I am writing this I recall that my 22 yr old nice has severe migrains and has for sometime. She has to take medication when she feels one coming on.I don't know what kind. This does not run in the family and she is the only one that I know of with them, she is my sisters daughter.
