weakness in leg after surgery

I had a c-section/hysterectomy nearly 5 months ago.  After the surgery, my left leg was left with no feeling and I was unable to walk without the aid of a walker or cane.  8 weeks of physical therapy has given me back some of the use although it is still incredibly weak.  The numbness, however, has not gotten any better.  I'm wondering what kind of exercises I can do to rehabilitate the muscles and make them normal again and if/when I can expect to get the feeling back?  This is the most frustrating thing I've ever had to deal with.  I have a newborn and a 2 yr old that I can't run after and teenagers that are really having to pick up the slack around here because I'm so limited.  Any suggestions or ideas are welcomed.
