Best advice I can give you, is go to Youtube and check it, it shows you videos of people having it done honestly viewing it does not really set you up for what it feels like because of the fact people gage their pain differently. I have had 3 LP's in the past as many months for reaccuring(sp) meningitis. I am a heavy set person and the doctor was worried due to more cushion on my body it would be hard to numb me but he did a really nice job all three times. Only time I felt discomfort was the 3rd but that was due to the fact the secondary one had only been done a few days prior to the last.
Lumbar puncture: removal by centesis of fluid from the subarachnoid space of the lumbar region of the spinal cord for diagnostic or therapeutic purposes. They remove spinal fluid to test it. If you have any more questions the back/neck forum would be a good place to ask. Best wishes.

Can you please advise what medical condition you or someone else is having that requires this and we can forward you to the appropriate forum?
