what to do about hand atrophy

I have numbness in my two fingers and my wrist hurts, since Feb . (fell backwards) Now my hand shows atrophy between the thumb and first finger...the EMG test showed no abnormalties and the MRI was ok so my doctor says wait a month for another EMG..in ....what about the atrophy of my left hand.......shouldn't some other things be checked out? What is causeing this? Is there a blood test for ruling out Lou Gerigs Disease or what else can we do to figure out why I have atrophy on the hand and nothing showing on MRI of hand and neck...I am taking Neurontin starting yesterday. My doctor doesn't explain enough..he leaves me confused...doesn't tell me in detail...Should I get a second opinion...letting the pain go and seeing the atrophy come on I just feel there must be something else, a test or something to rule out a muscular disease coming on or what, I am confused....please advise...

I second that. I've had peripheral neuropathy, and it took months to regenerate the nerve in my foot.

It sounds like you're not comfortable with your doctor, if I were you I'd definitely seek a second opinion. That way you can find a doctor that can help you best.

having same exact issue but with foot, figuring out on my own that ifthe nerve signal is weak, muscles atrophy, sooooo all you can do is force exercise on it and as the nerve slowwwwllllllyyyyyy regenerates, the muscle will need less forcing to stay strong, nerve problems take many months to years to heal
