worried possible ALS

iI am very concerned at the possible dx of ALS.
In December 09 I noticed what the orthopaedic surgeon calls:gross signs of muscle weakness: marked wasting of the abductor pollicis;tested positive for Romberg's sign.;positive tinels's sign: gait problems
He is concerned I may have an associated higher lesion which is attributting to this progressive neuropathy over C*/T1 distribution.
I have an appointment with Neurologist Thursday 5/2/10 and EMG nerve conduction studies 13/2/10.
I have been falling over on stairs,dropping objects, have difficulty using utensils,undoing buttons,using keys ect with my left hand.
My tongue feels like its getting 'thicker' and has a slight tingel on the tip.I seem to have excessive amounts of saliva especially during sleep.My speech appears to be slow and hesitant at times.
My right leg seems to be the cause of my falls on stairs although I only have mild muscle aches in it the sole of the foot feels tingley at times.
Do you think it is possible ALS symptoms or something else?
