Glioblastoma surgery issue

by Stinap, Jul 19, 2009 11:46AM
My 74 year old aunt has just undergone Glioblastoma surgery. The doctors were able to remove a good portion of the tumor. It has now been almost a week since the surgery and she is in a coma like state. She opened her eyes once after the surgery and hasn't opened them since. They say there is a great amount of swelling still and that the steriods that they are giving her is not reducing the swelling. The doctors are saying they don't know what is going on or why this is happening. She was falling into a deep sleep prior to the surgery and they were unable to wake her up for any of the surgery.Has anyone ever come across this situation or know what the treatment options could be?

Thanks
