MRI Results Question

by liajnad, Sep 24, 2009 02:25PM
I went to my doctor and he did not really explain my MRI results.  He suggested acupuncture to help with my pain but other than that nothing.  I was not thinking clearly and did not ask questions.  I am preparing for my next visit and found this site while trying to search out terms to know what to ask.  Can someone tell me in simple terms what MRI results mean.

I am a 43 year old female with lower back pain.  I have had my back go out or be in extreme pain for the a week or two for about 10 years.  In the last 6 months it has gotten worse.

Findings:  Bone marrow signal is somewhat diminished, likely related to persistent red marrow.  Correlate clinically.  Multilevel marginal spurring is seen.  Vertebral body alignment is within normal limits.  Conus medullaris is at L2

L3/4: Left foraminal disc protrusion
L4/5: Central/right paracentral disc protrusion and facet/ligamentum flavum hypertrophic change.
L5/S1  Left paracentral/left lateral annular tear/protrusion and facet/ligamentum flavum hypertrophic change.

Thank you for your time.

I dont know what is your doctor's specialty but for sure he is not the specialist in your problem, you may need a dynamic views x-ray. Never accupuncture could resolve the problem of "suspended vertebra" or "facet sybdrome"
