No sufficient data about the progression of carotid disease, but for sure, cholesterol alone is not the main factor of internal wall damage. Most probably you have one of the three most popular triggers of that phenomenon:
1- Tobacco (smoking)
2- Alcohol (drinking)
3- Uncontrolable high Glucose level (Diabetes)

Try to answer yourself
and take adequate serious and responsible measures

Thanks for answering, Dr. Chahine,  However, I have none of those triggers (smoking, drinking, diabetes.)  However, your answer may be of help to others.
