B12 deficiency

by MP42, Mar 06, 2007 12:00AM
I am a 42yr old female and was just diagnosed with B12 deficiency and have started taking 1000mcg B12 daily. I am having swelling and numbness of the right hand.  Has anyone had this similar problem? I am wondering if there is another underlying problem that we are missing.

The B-12 should be taken with folic acid. The sublingual kind is best because the two serious receptor sites are under the tongue and at the far end of the intestine. If they every give you a B-12 injection, insist on the single-dose vial. The multi-dose vials often have a mercury based preservative. I'm not sure about the numbness. Not enough info.
