B6 Toxicity

B6 Toxicity

I've written before re: B6 toxicity and have B6 levels over twice the upper limit of normal with progressive peripheral neuropathy. NEVER taking supplements. Low B6 diet not helping. Not diabetic. Taking Tramadol/Neurontin/Tegretol/Cymbalta.
Questions: Suppose there IS a problem converting to PLP, causing B6 to build up in blood.... Might it be possible that taking a P5P supplement could resolve this?? What dose P5P might be taken and is dose dependent on how excessive the B6 level?? Who might currently be studying toxic B6 with P5P?? What is the liver mechanism for B6 toxicity?? Or what other system(s)/organs might be at fault??
Thanks, June

P5P is one of the active coenzyme forms of vitamin B-6 and it is recommended to take P5P if you are vitamin B6 deficient. You stated your body is in the opposite state with vitamin B6. Vitamin B6 toxicity does cause temporary neurological symptoms, as you stated, which, according to the literature, usually take up to 6 months for it to resolve itself for majority of people. There are some people who do have permanent damage. It is good you are eating lower levels of vitamin B6 foods. The Food sources with lowest amounts are: Peaches, Milk, Peas, Carrots, Ground Beef, Brown Rice, Soybeans, Avocado, Banana, and Turkey. If you suspect an issue with P5P or PLP (product too much), then suggest seeing a Doctor that specializes in enzyme disorders. Hoped this helped you.
