Eating Healthy Portions

Can you not just eat healthy balanced meals around 1000-1200 calories and do HCG and lose the weight? I have ben on every diet known to man and am 51 years old. I know I have damaged my metabolism. I don't believe in eating less than the calories I listed above. So would it be possible to eat healthy, no fried foods, white flour or white pastas, no sugars. Eat fruits and raw veggies for snacks but a portion of protein for the three meals of the day, with green veggies and mabe a red potato or sweet potato...something like that? Please let me know. Thanks.

I doubt you have damaged your metabolism.  I recommend adding exercise to your regimen.

Best to skip the potatoes and sweet potatoes on a regular basis -- very high on the glycemic index.  Dieting usually doesn't work for more than a short time, then the body just gets used to it.  If you're not getting all the nutrients your body needs, then eventually you have to leave the "diet" and go back to something normal, so it's best to find a normal diet in the first place that suits you, supplies the nutrients you need for optimal health, and satisfies you.  Since you've had a difficult time with that, a holistic nutritionist might of some help here.  Calories really has very little to do with weight; how well you utilize nutrients and sugar metabolism are much more important.  I agree with the above, it's really unlikely you've damaged your metabolism permanently, but that doesn't mean you don't have metabolic problems.  These can be checked out.  Good luck.

Just to clarify, obviously eating a huge amount of calories is a bad idea, I'm more saying there is no set amount of calories that defines a proper diet.  The reason is that we differ from one another in how well we digest certain foods, in our metabolism, in all kinds of factors.  We all have to find the diet that suits us, not what suits someone else, and as we age, of course, this changes.
