Herbal Tea Causing Problems?

Herbal Tea Causing Problems?

Hi

Im a 19 years old male suffering from anxiety. Last week i decided to make a trip to my local herbal store and get some herbal tea. I got the Valerian Root Tea & St. Joh's Wort Herbs which i havent used yet. But i have been drinking the Valerian Root Tea for few days now and from yesterday i started having this stomach pain. And when i go to bathroom its not like it always is. It feels like i have diarrhea but i dont. I wanted to know if these herbal teas could cause this kind of stomach discomfort. I havent been drinking anymore Valerian Root Tea today but i still have the stomach problems.

I also wanted to know what are some good foods to help the body get over anxiety and control the symptoms?

If you are living in the United States, herbal products are not regulated so you really do not know what is in the product. Some companies voluntarily list the ingredients, however, not all. There may have been something in the tea that did not agree with you or you could have been 'hit' with a stomach virus on the same day you drank the tea. For anxiety, suggest restricting all food and drink with caffeine such as coffee, teas, chocolate, mountain dew soda, high energy drinks, etc. Read the labels. Suggest practicing stress reducing behavior actions which will help reduce anxiety too. Exercise and especially yoga are great stress reducing practices.
