High Folate and High B12

High Folate and High B12

A patient recently presented with a serum folate lab value (greater than 18 ng/ml) and Vitamin B12 in the blood of 1741 pg/ml. I am more familiar with deficiencies in those labs, but what's to explain the H in both?
Thanks!

With increased serum homocysteine, vitamin B12 and folate increases, however, there may be an underlining vitamin B12 or folate deficiency. This presents itself in renal insufficiency, hypothyroidism or some medications.
