High Vitamin B12

High Vitamin B12

I just recently had my blood drawn and these are my results from the blood Test:

TSH                  1.85           (Norm 0.35-5.50)            8.6 was in July 2011
T3 FREE            3.0            (Norm 2.3-4.2)                2.9 was in April 2011
T4 FREE            1.29          (Norm 0.8-1.8)                1.31 was in July 2011
Vitamin B12       947 HIGH   (Norm 211-911)

In April I was diagnosed as having 'hypothyroidism' in which I have been taken 'synthroid 50 mcg' once a day, and now since my lab results I know have HIGH Vit B12, what does that mean?  Should I be worried about it being so high like that?  I am also doctoring for severe anxiety and depression, would that be caused by my inbalance of these lab results?  As I have alot of anxiety that is going on with me for the past 2 years, and am not able to function on the job.   Please advise on this.

All of your labs are normal and since you are taking medication for hypothyroidism, it seems the thyroid levels are returning to normal as per your lab values. Vitamin B12 is not that much out of range. You may have eaten a high Vitamin B12 food before the blood test. There is no toxicity with vitamin B12 so no need to worry about the level. Hoped that helped you.

Hi Connie
You talked about anxiety- I have had anxiety for the past ten years. Its so scary and noone understands unless they have neeb through it. But I heard epople have anxiety and yrs later they have a thyroid problem. Ask your Dr is the two have anything to do with eachother!

You ask if the two having anything together?  Well, I have asked my provider and they keep telling me NO my anxiety has nothing to do with thyroid problem, that they say that hypo thyroidism does not have anxiety symptoms, only hyperthyroidism DOES.  But on here, people are telling me that anxiety does go along with hypothyroidism.
