Improve immunity to viruses

by bman154, Sep 30, 2009 07:44AM
When I get a common cold/virus it quiet often turns into infection a throat and lung infection (at least 1-2 per year).  What suppliments etc should I take/foods should I eat to improve my immune system to reduce the risk of these infections.  I would like to start to improve it otherwise one of these infections may kill me one day.

First off, if you kept getting antibiotics every time this happened, then most likely you've had a die-off of your beneficial bacteria in your intestinal tract.  So the first thing is to supplement with a good refrigerated probiotic from your health food store.  Second, a good astragalus-based supplement can help.  Gaia makes a good one.  Diet should be high in colored vegetables such as collards, kale, parsley, dandelion greens, and the like.  Wheat grass would also be good.  Regular exercise and plenty of fiber helps keep the system flowing.  Cut out dairy and wheat; they tend to be pro-inflammatory, which allows more bad guys to stick in your system.  A good multivitamin to guarantee you're getting at least some of what you need every day.  For a more thorough approach, see a naturopath or holistic nutritionist.  Good luck.

Oh, and next time you get a virus, try taking olive leaf and elderberry flowers.  Good natural antivirals that may help you prevent the infection from following.

Wild oil of oregeno under the tounge kills all flu viruses>

Oil of oregano is more of an antifungal than an antiviral, and isn't meant to be taken under the tongue.  It's not sublingual, and burns like you know what.  It's meant to be put in a little water and then to be drunk, like any tincture, so it can be digested properly like the food it is.
