Intrinsic Factor Test for low B12

Intrinsic Factor Test for low B12

I have low B12 = 133. Have been receiving injections for over a year now and level now 200. Can you tell me if there is a optimum time to test intrinsic factor and get an accurate result. I have had tests for this well after starting the injections and wondered if this should have been done before starting the injections to get an accurate result. So are the blood tests do not tell me why I am B12 deficient. My diet is great and am not vegetarian. Wondering how I can find out why my B12 is low. Thanks

The Schilling test indicates if you have pernicious anemia (the body’s intrinsic factor is working or not) and it does not matter if you take the test after treatments. Mild vitamin B12 deficiency maybe caused with chronic alcoholism, therapy for gastric acid inhibitors, vegan vegetarians, autoimmune disorders, or dementia. Thank you for your question.
