Can iron supplements make you gain weight?
I've been taking iron supplements for a week and gained 800 grams. I haven't been eating much more than usual so I'm a bit worried.

Some Iron supplements tend to constipate which may cause some weight gain. Increase your fiber (fruits, vegetables, and whole grains) and fluid intake so you move your bowels on a regular basis.

Thank you for your advice.

Is iron really that important?My doctor made me take these iron supplements to make me healthier,but I felt much better before I took them...Do you think it's ok to stop taking them?

Yes, Iron is an important mineral for our bodies. It combines with protein to form hemoglobin which carries oxygen to all our cells in the body. Women tend to have lower iron stores due to monthly menstruation. There are different types of iron supplements so I suggest you ask your MD for another type.
