Liver Cleanse

I am thinking about doing a liver cleanse and I am just wondering if it is painful in any way?  Thanks

I have read that you should not expect to go anywhere for the entire weekend.  And I have read that you dont need any fancy supplements that olive oil and lemon juice work great.  But too, I have read that liver cleanses are controversial.  Do lots more research before putting your body through something so vigourous and perhaps talk to a specialist in the field.
