Macrocytosis is enlarged red blood cells. Usually it does cause any signs or symptoms. Macrocytosis occurs due to an underlying issue, however, it needs medical attention. Common causes of Macrocytosis include Vitamin B-12 or Folate deficiency, Liver disease, Alcoholism, side effect from medication (such as chemotherapy drugs) or bone marrow increase of red blood cells to correct anemia. Have blood tests done to determine the cause and then be treated properly.
