Malnutrition and Hair Loss

by RamCheerMom, May 04, 2005 12:00AM
I lost 20 lbs in 3 weeks due to surgery and complications.  It's been 4 months since the surgery and my hair is really coming out.  I've heard after surgery, stress, weight loss and anemia you will experience hair loss.  I'm taking vitamins and eating well, when should the hair loss stop?  And has anyone ever lost all of their hair from a stressful surgery?

I lost a signifigant amount of hair...guess you would call it more of a general thinning.  I was told to take  herbs called Horsetail and biotin and folic acid.  I did that starting in November and by March I saw a big difference and now my hair is better than ever.  These were purchased at very large health food market.

Hi, I had a lot of hair loss when I had an infection recently, after I had tetanus I seemed to have some infection in my blood, judging from the fact I had the tiniest red lines under my fingernails... No money and live in the United sTates, so no access to healthcare.

When a friend sent me propolis, which is a natural antibiotic, as well as oil of oregano, the red lines faded and my hair stopped falling out so much.

Then, recently, when I've been having more B12 shots because of my peripheral neuropathy having gotten so much worse, I noticed that I was getting a lot of new hair, and some of it was dark, where what had fallen out had been white.
