Messed up metabolism?

Messed up metabolism?

Hi

I suffered from eating disorders since i was 15 (now 31). I had 2 years as an anorexic and then suffered form bulimia on and off for the rest of the time. I am now currently at 17 weeks of no binging/purging, but what i was wondering is if my past trouble with ED's could have messed up my metabolism for life?
I am about 2 and a half stone overweight the now and i am exercising regulary and eating very well and not overeating. I am determined to beat my ED for good this time but it is very upsetting that no matter how much effort i am putting in i am seeing no change in my weight and i am worried this could set me back.
The other thing that may be complicating matters with my metabolism, is that i had a  severe accident in Feb 2008 where i broke both my hips, my ankle, my pelvis, my sacrum and all the lumbar bones in my back. So i was very inactive till about feb 2009 when i was cleared to start exercising again. I know I lost a lot of muscle mass and gained a lot of fat, but i was told my Dr that my metabolism could take several months to kick back into fukll working order adfter spinal injuries.
Thanks

You stated that you have lost muscle due to recovering from a severe accident about a year ago and your body went through a massive healing. If you are exercising, losing fat, and gaining lean muscle; then you will not show weight lose because muscle weights more than fat. Measure your waist and hips as a guide for trimming down. As we exercise we build lean body muscle mass which weight more than fat so the scale reflects no weight loss when in fact the body is trimming down fat. The tape measure will measure loss of inches and your clothes will start to feel looser. Do not get discouraged. As long as the body is toning up, there is weight loss. Best of luck to you and thank you for your question.
