Need nutritional advice...

Ok well I'm in terrible shape. I'm 23, and have been eating terribly unhealthy for the last decade. I'm talking about fastfood galore. If not that than greasy food and cola. I'm feeling it now. I'm fatigured, muscles hurt and I feel like I'm not going to live to see 40 if I don't change my lifestyle. Well I want to change. I need to be put on a meal and exercise plan. I have access to a gym in my apartment building but I'm looking for someone to guide me food wise and push me. Is there anyway I can hire someone to do this? Preferably cheap? SHould I see a nutritionist?

Thanks for the advice!!

Don't buy anything in a box or package. Cook all food. Or you could look into one of those programs they have people there willing to help you. You could also look into hiring a trainer at your  local gym they will guide you on workouts and food

my advice to you is to first take a day to write down everything you eat... i know that everyone says that, but there is a reason why it is helpful... you are overweight because of the things you eat... there is no such thing as a bad food.. only foods that should be eaten in moderation. to lose a pound a week you have to cut at least 500 calories a day.. this adds up to a pound a week.. also, yes you are right, quit with the fast food... if you start a workout routine, even if it is only walking around the block a few times at first and gradually moving up to a jog, it will help.. i think that you can look at your own diet and notice some things immediately that you should probably cut back on but also add more protein to your diet. If you are going to be working out you still need carbohydrates.. carbs are your bodys fuel for energy, just dont overconsume.. there are two tricks i tell people.. when you eat, eat off of a salad plate.. it looks like you are eating more than you actually are... and second start with a salad.. plain salad with a small amount of dressing.. the salad will help you to fill up faster.. the trick to dieting is the mental part of it.. dont consider it a diet.... consider it a lifestyle change, because the only way it will work is if it is permanent... good luck =-)
ps- i have a nutrition degree if you are wondering why i feel that i can give you this advice =-)

What is essential to healthy nutrition is to eat varied and when possible, not ready-to-cook food. It is very modern, time-saving and sound with our hectic everyday life, but in the same time not very good for our health. It is also important to increase the number of daily intakes in return for smaller amounts of food, and to avoid overeating.
On this site http://balansator.com/balansator.php you can find an online tool that can help you combine different food products to prepare on your own nutritionally balanced meal plans conformable to your taste and products availability.
I hope it would be useful :)

i am a nutritionist and i'd love to give some helpful advice!

first of all, you will not make lasting changes in your life if you try to do everything all at once.  i will suggest several things for you to do and/or not do, but i would advise you to make one or two changes a week for the next several weeks.  focus on staying true to your new changed behavior and take things slowly:

FIRST WEEK: stop eating fast food.  no more McD or BK!!  stop drinking sodas and other sugar drinks like Capri Sun, iced tea, gatorade, kool-aid, lemonade, fruit punch, etc.  replace them with water or 100% fruit juice

SECOND WEEK:  start eating one fruit and one vegetable every day.  change your milk to 1% or skim milk if you are currently drinking a higher fat milk.

THIRD WEEK:  add a second vegetable to your daily intake.  work on eating whole grain breads, healthy cereals and brown or wild rice for dinner instead of white rice.

FOURTH WEEK:  start eating a lowfat yogurt several times a week.  focus on one with LIVE and ACTIVE cultures in it.  good brands to buy are Stonyfield Farms, HOrizon, and Wallaby.  all three are organic.  most store brand yogurt does not have LIVE and ACTIVE cultures in it, FYI.  you might need to go to a natural food store to find these!  it's very important to find one that does!  start taking a multivitamin.  add another fruit to your day (now you're up to 2 veggies and 2 fruits each day).

FIFTH WEEK:  start replacing your foods with organic versions, beginning with the dairy and the meat foods and also the produce.  it will be more expensive, but well worth it!  plus, how much did you spend on Bic Macs and fries in the past?  all the money you're saving on that can go toward the healthy stuff!  this is your only assignment for this week, since it's a big one and will take awhile to really change over to organics.

SIXTH WEEK:  add one last vegetable to your diet (now you're up to 3 veggies and 2 fruits daily).  stop eating fried foods and chicken with the skin still on it.  start reading your labels and avoid all foods that have the following:  High Fructose Corn Syrup, Sorbitol, Aspartame, Sucralose, Saccharin, MSG, Potassium Sorbate.

that's a lot of information and a lot of great changes to make!  if you want to rearrange the list, feel free to do the stuff that would be easy for you first.  chances are, if you really do follow my advice, you will feel like a completely new person in 6 weeks!!  let me know if you decide to take me up on this challenge and keep me posted if you do!  i'll check in to see in a few days :)

Hello, very good advice above, however you will also need the proper balance of nutrients. What I use is The Greatest Vitamin In The World, they sound cheesy, but I assure you they are not.  I ordered mine at http://www.bestvitamins.ws
Good luck!
