Substitute for Butter

I want to bake some fish which says to spread butter over the fish before I bake it. I am just an inexperienced cook who has just gotten a stent implant, and wants to avoid another. What could I substute for butter to brush over the fish?

Olive oil (can you have that)?  I've also heard of applesauce being used to replace butter but it will give the fish a different flavor.  There is a fruit mix you can buy at the store that is used to replace butter and lard in recipes.  I haven't bought it for a while so I forget what it is called but it's in the baking isle.  Olive oil is good for you, but I don't know what the stent does and what you need to avoid.  That would be your best substitute if you can have olive oil.
