Vitamin D Defenciency

I realize that the origional post was over a year ago & really hope that your pain issues have been resolved. I recently found out that my Vit. D level is extremely low & that there are at least 2 kinds of Vit. D. Vitamin D2 you get from plants, Vitamin D3 you get from the sun.  My Vit. D2 level is 4 & my D3 level is 21. The Dr. that suspected the Vit.D defenciency & ordered the blood work put me on a prescription Vitamin D to be taken every week for 12 weeks then every other week for 12 weeks. She says that my low Vit. D level could be contributing to my muscle pain & severe skin sensitivity associated with the nerve disease I've had for 10 yrs. now, RSD, also known as CRPS.
(RSD - Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy & CRPS - Chronic Regional Pain Syndrome.)  It's a rare nerve disease of the sympathetic nervous system that causes severe, extreme, chronic pain & there's no cure. Some Dr's don't know about it, some won't acknowledge that it even exists even though it's been known of since the Civil War. It was called "Causalgia" because of the burning pain associated with it. The name of this disease has been changed several times over the years as doctor's have learned more about it. Most recently, it's name was changed to CRPS. It was, & still is, known as RSD when I was diagnosed with it so that's what I call it.
If you're still having a lot of pain that seems be a lot worse than it should be, extreme skin sensitivity, burning pain, sensitivity to clothing, shoes, etc., then I suggest that you do some research about RSD. There's all kinds of web sites that have info about it but I really reccommend    www.rsdsa.org  &  www.rsdhope.  Both of these websites are run by people who really care & will help you in any way that they can. They've been raising awareness about RSD & helping to fund research for years. They sell RSD awareness merchandise to help with funding research.
I pray to God that you don't have RSD because it's absolutely horrible!!  The pain is constant - it never goes away!   It takes over your body & consumes your life; dictating what you wear, when you can get out for shopping, Dr. appt's, etc. It even decides when you sleep & when you don't!  I've been awake for as long as 5 days & nights straight despite my meds for muscle spasms & valium which usually helps me sleep. The pain level associated with RSD is higher than that of a terminally ill cancer patient & the simplest of injuries can cause it. In my case, my right leg was crushed between 2 steel utility carts hanging full of  clothes that were soaking wet from the tornado-like storm that snuck up on us out of the blue. My ham-string was completely severed by a sharp edge on the bottom of the utility cart & the impact of the other that fell on my leg.
If your doctor won't listen to you, you need to try to find another one. I know how hard that is to do, too!! As soon as you tell them you have chronic pain, they won't see you or hang up the phone. Nobody wants to deal with chronic pain patients!!  We're like lepers of Biblical times. I've looked in a 100 mile radius of my home & can't find a Dr.  who's willing to take me on if my current Dr. of 15 yrs. ends up closing his office. Most Dr's don't want to prescribe pain meds either because of the abuse levels & fear of the governments "War on Drugs" which has grown to include all Dr's!!  It's not fair or right, but that's the way it is.
I sure hope things have gotten better for you!!  I'd like to know what's happened over the past year if you wouldn't mind telling me.  Especially with the Vitamin D defenciency & whether or not it's helped your pain. Best of luck to you! May God be with you & watch over you.
