Whats considered underweight

Hi I was wondering if my daughter is underweight...what is considerd unerweight....im worried that she is underweight pls help....and also was wondering she gets really bad eczema when we give her dairy products...and is wondering if there is anything else that we can give her other then dairy...i was told that cant give a toddler under 2 soy milk....so is there anything that we can give her....before we found out that it was dairy she loved yogurt and ice cream....

Both her weight and height are below the 5th percentile for her age. Was she born premature or the females in the family petite? She is under the normal weight for her age, however, if she has been gaining weight at a steady rate (even if it has been slow) she maybe just small in stature. If not, then she would be underweight. Soy base formula is given to infants so she can have soy milk, soy yogurt, soy ice cream. Suggest Pediasure (dairy free), nutrient dense drink instead of milk for all meals and snacks for additional calories and protein to help her to grow and gain weight. Hoped this helped you.

im not a doctor, but tell you what we did. my son couldn't eat dairy either, and he was on soy formula from the time he was 3 months old. He also had pedialyte.

sorry, i didn't mean to type pedialite, but pediasure, like the doctor said. I hope I didn't confuse you. How have things been going? have you tried soy yet? I hope your little girl is doing well! :o)
