I have had a gradual loss of balance over 5 years and can no longer ride a bike, roller blade, jump on a trampoline, anything that requires balance. I can still walk but feel like I am going from side to side. My balance problems are made worse when I start working out and lifting weights and then I have to quit exercising. If I work out and lift weights for a couple of days, my symptoms get worse a couple of days later and last for weeks. I usually wake up with a headache and then I know that my entire day will be filled with symptoms such as increased loss of balance and an ill and fatigued feeling. I have seen a neuroligist and had a positive romberg test, but my MRI was negative (I have had 3 negative MRI's), so I think MS is ruled out. However, I continue to have these symptoms year after year and they seem to come in flares but I have never felt normalNormal saline flush and healthy and balancedBalanced b-100 Balanced b-100 high potency caplets Balanced b-100 time released high potency caplets Balanced b-50 Balanced diet for 5 years, so I never have a day that I don't feel like I have a disease. I have a possible "connective tissue" disease based on blood tests and my question is - is MS considered a connective tissue disease? My grandmother had MS. Some days, when I wake up with the headache, I feel like my words are being slurred and my whole body just seems to get heavy and normalNormal saline flush things like walking up the stairs seem harder. Does this sound like MS? I am starting to run into walls at home and have done it a couple of times at work and one co-worker commented - are you drunk?
I was in my garage working on a small project that did not require much mentalMental retardation Mental status tests or body manulipation. I checked my surger leven and it was 120mg prior to this work. While in the garage, I felt light headed, could not stand and lost my balance and just layed there fully aware of my surroundings. Eventually after about five minutes, I was able to pull myself up and immediately took a glucoseFasting glucose tolerance test Glucose test Glucose test - blood Glucose tolerance test Oral glucose tolerance test table and I started feeling better almost immediately. There was really no excersion or reason for this to happen as far as I was able to test for. After I rechecked my blood sugar after this, it was lower than 20mg and began to rise to normalNormal saline flush after taking the glucose pill. What could of caused this and what type of questions can I ask my doctor that will explain this clearly and with concern. I have not had one since, but it is worrysome to do anything without anyone around for this reason. I would like your thoughts on this type of anomilly?
Sorry this is nothing to do with your question, but does anyone know if the neurologist is every coming back to this forum? there are no answers on the whole first page. Just wondering.
To: have you been checked for pseudotumor cereberbi
I was awakened in teh middle of the night with a horrible headache and went to the er and after they did my lumbar puncture they said the pressure on my brain was 2 times normal which caused the headache and had been causing double vision. It is just something else to conseider. I was told I have it and now they do not think I have it. I also have problems with my balance and running into things. If you find out whats wrong, let me know. I go see my 2nd neurologist tomorrow. Hope you feel better.
