Depends on the kind of fat. Everyone needs essential fatty acids to live, like any other essential nutrient. Without any essential nutrient, over time health problems will arise, and if they continue indefinitely death will occur. For example, without enough cholesterol you can't make hormones; it's only the bad cholesterol that is harmful because it oxidizes easily allowing it to stick to the sides of the blood vessels. But the amount of fat needed depends on the person and what a person is used to. Sudden changes in diet are more harmful than it would be for someone who has always eaten little fat. And individuals differ. Why is it you're afraid you're not getting enough fat in your diet? Fats are found in so many foods -- nuts, some fruits (avocados, for example), algae, all protein foods -- so why do you think you're not getting enough?
