nutrition supplement hype or hope

I have an aquaintance who has been practically inundating me with information on Isagenix and wants me to endorse it as I am a medical professional.  However, I have been unable to find any studies on this product.  Everything is testimonial.  I actually did purchase some product, but felt unwell during the very first day, and feel uncomfortable with the hard sell. She has had her supervisor come in on a conference call to try to convince me to use and endorse the product.  It has an almost cult feel to this---a "born again" advertising feel.  I feel a little guilty about not returning any of her calls, but I also do not want to perpetuate anything that may be even remotely "snake oil" on friends and relatives.  She wanted the name and address of my daughter, and I would not relate this at all.  I would be happy to evaluate the so-called "cleanse" aspect of this, if I could find any articles in any journals, but have found no research articles regarding this on either Medline or Medscape. Can you help?

I am so frustrated with this Isagenix scheme.  I am not interested in any way to take the stuff, but I am getting hammered left and right with co-workers trying to get you on it.  I have not been able to find one solid site or article that backs up the health benefits, let alone one article that states what side effects you could encounter.  The only things I can find on the internet are MLM this and MLM that, money, money, money....  I fail to see how loosing 10 lbs in 2 days is healthily.  I have been doing the low carb, high protein thing for about a month and a half, and I have lost weight and continue to do so.  However, it's coming off naturally and I don't have to starve myself, or deal with diarrhea out of the blue.  If someone else can locate some valid data in regards to Isagenix, I would greatly appreciate it.  The pressure to join this "cult like" business starts right at the VP of my company, and I need solid information to say yes or no to it.  Thanks.

A simple solution ....

Ask the sales person for all of the supporting information relevant to the product, including any clinical trials, research, etc.  Such information should be available to those that make and sell the product. OTHERWISE, I would stay clear of any involvement. You might also refer to your own "not positive" experience using the product as reason enough not to endorse.
