I recommend increasing your intake of fresh fruit and vegetables prior to surgery, if you can tolerate them. You did not state the type of surgery you were under going.  If you can, get a massage the day before the surgery to relax your body. Continue to eat healthy after the surgery and increase foods with vitamin C (oranges, broccoli, etc) and have an 8oz low fat milkshake to slightly increase protein for 3-4 days for wound healing. If you are having any surgery that involves the digestive system then you need to go with the diet recommendations of the hospital's dietitian. Best of luck with your surgery.

Please take at least 2000mg of VitC ascorbate starting now  and after surgery untill you heal properly and maintain a dose of 500 -1000 mg a day for ever.Unless you have a renal problems do not take more than 500 mg a day .Best of health to you.
