im trying to gain weight as well and have some helpful tips that have worked for me hopefully they can help you as well. im a nutrition major at university so what ive learned i'll pass on here: :)
1. there arent any magic weight gainer powders or supplements, it is a waste of money. (same goes for those trying to lose, there is no magic pill!)
2. eating calorie dense foods (foods with lots of calories in a serving) will help as long as they are healthy choices. things like nuts, seeds, avocados, fish, pasta, all are packed with calories as well as vital nutrients. obviously potato chips are high in calories but you wont get the same nutritients. so these foods give you great energy and FAT, which is not bad for you as long as it is unsaturated, found in the stuff above.
3. keep your diet healthy in general. fruits, veggies, whole grains, and lean protien. you would think pounds can be added with just a bunch of junk food, but without a healthy diet you can be undernourished.
4. muscle weighs more than fat. you'll have plenty of energy to exercise with a healthy diet, and to add bulk or definition resistance training and things like lifting weights can help. i bet anyone at your local gym could give you tips about this.
5. just try and sneak in some extra calories when you can. like a bunch of snacks between meals, like a handful of nuts, powerbar or whatever.
***it just comes down to taking in more calories than you burn in a day! and add muscle with exercise!***
good luck, and be happy and healthy

I think you can use alternative medicines or herbal supplements to increase weight. But first consult your health professional.

From the sound of you note, you don't really want to gain weight.  You can do that by eating pizza and sitting around watching tv.  I think you just want to look more "manly".  Some men are born without the ablility to have that "six-pack" stomach, but you can still build muscle. Muscles don't really get larger anyway, at least not in the way most people think. Muscle tissue doesn't "grow" or increase ever. When you exercise a muscle, it requires more energy from the body. The muscle tissue releases a hormone called lactic acid to meet this need.  If you don't use all of the lactic acid, then you get sore or have a charlie horse in the muscle.  If you continue to use the muscle alot, then the body will start building more blood vessels in the muscle tissue to provide energy instead of making so much lactic acid.  These extra blood vessels take up room in the muscle tissue and push the muscle outward so the muscle will "get bigger".  If you lift weights, this will happen. This exercise will have to be daily to keep the muscles large.  If you stop exercising for as little as one week, the muscle will get rid of blood vessels and get smaller.  Hereity plays a part in how large the muscle will "build up". Whatever you decide to do, you will have to be dedicated. You can exercise and put on weight--muscles weigh more than fat--or you can just put on weight and get fat.
