Compulsive fear of eye gouging

Hmmm. Perhaps, some of you have faced this compulsion at one point in time. I am faced with a new compulsion that is leading me to obsess about how easy it would or how possible that someone could gouge my eyes out in a fight or how vulnerable they are to such injuries. This has been leading me to search up articles on how easy it would be to gouge at them. It seems very odd and it definitely is. If you have or have not faced this compulsive thought at one time, what advice do you have?

i have faced this problem in past and it was really very bad time. you will feel that you are vulnerable at every point of time and most of the time you are thinking about eyes only. It is really very tough thing, but all the obsessive thoughts become painful when your ocd is really at peak, no matter what the obsessive thought is.

So basically its not what the obsessive thought is the problem,it is how much your ocd is disturbing you because if not this thought, it would be disturbing you with some other thought.

Therefore the only thing you can do is to start treatment by consulting a psychiatrist and look for therapy also.

Hi I'm sorry you are going through this. I think the fear can be changed.  I used to fear having a panic attack while driving.  What helped me was to listen to my favorite music, even a favorite song until I got to work. I slowly realized that it was just a fear, wasn't a fact and was able to deal with it.   I also hyperventilated so read that if you have ice water with you, drinking it of course, you can't hyperventilated.  The Community Leader who is normally here is on vacation.  I hope others will stop by to help with suggestions though keep in mind this is a holiday weekend so will be slow.  Have you seen a doctor?  They could help you tremendously. Take care, Dee
