Constantly fearing I will hurt someone

Does anyone else fixate on the thought that you will hurt people?  Like your anxiety will take control of you and you will have that "losing control" feeling?  I am so scared I am going to hurt my partner or my dogs.   I have NEVER done anything violent but I get this thought stuck in my head and I picture these things happening and it can throw me into full blown PANIC because the thoughts won't go away.  Can anyone help?

Absolutely, this is a very common OCD irrational thought.  I thought I would harm my husband, my mom, etc and it would all kind of "accidantally" happen while I was not meaning for it to happen.  The good news is that people with OCD irrational thoughts do not act on these thoughts.  We realize what these thoughts are, stupid, we realize we would never carry out these thoughts.

It is a hard thing to get out of though.  It is such a debilitating thought that it tends to stay with us.  The best adivce I have for you is to go and seek professional help from a psychologist.  They can teach you cognitive behavioral therapy which will help you with these thoughts.  Also you could pursue the medication route with a psychiatrist.  One part of my therapy was to go into a dark room and picture myself acting out these thoughts, it made me realize I simply would never do them.

I also need to use medication.  Everyone is different.  But know that you do not have to live your life with these thoughts.  For me, when I got rid of one another would just simply take its place so I needed that outside help.  I am proof that this can be overcome with the proper help.
