HELP HELP Do I have OCD

by TravelTheWorld, Mar 01, 2008 12:41PM
Hello

I hope someone can help me.  I have couple of symptoms of OCD but not sure if I need to be concerned.

1. Since I was a small boy I used to see images where a tiger or a snake was chasing me.  I would try to run away and they would continue to chase me.  I used to get very tired from these images.

2. Since childhood I used to see images where people were attacking me and I was trying to fight back. These images would come for instance when I was in the classroom.  I would be totally occupied with these images.  I was even caught once by my teacher trying to punch the wall. Basically I was see in the images that I was punching the attaker.

3.  I would see images were I would see my brothers and sister in trouble and I would be trying to save them. Again very hausting.

4.  These days if I am a little stressed I see images where I am secreting in a holy alter. I am trying to stop myself and I just cannot do it.  These image basically just keep coming. I feel very guilty.  I just can't stop it.

5. I see images where nails are going through my feet. Basically I am stepping on nails.

6.  Images were I see a snake trying to enter my butt. It is crazy. I always had these images but just tried to ignore them.

7.  I see a picture of holy figure and I have an image where my private part is betting big and trying to touch the holy image.  That is the last thing I want to do and the image just forces in my mind.

8.  Once I was obssesive with watching TV and now it is browsering  the internet. Just feel like when I do that everything is ok.  It is such a big urge that I just can't stop it.  I waste a lot of time and energy.

There maybe more.  I am happy married with a wife and a child. I think I have everything in life but just feel that my above behavior is an obstacle for me to do better things in life. I don't want to blame these things for anything but just wanted to make sure if I need help.

I would really appreciate you help and insight.

Thank you.

If these images are causng you problems, then you need therapy or a doctor. We all have bizarre thoughts sometimes.  Noone can safely say if it is OCD.  There is a pattern it seems to your images.  I know for me I lived with a lot of anxiety at one time ans the panic was like walking around the corner and seeing a tiger. What a chemical cocktail.  You have some fear or anger issues, perhaps.  Resentment and anger all boils to fear.  Some of the things seem harmless enough such as browsing the internet, perhaps there is satisfaction in it.  That is normal.  It is normal to switch insterests.  Perhaps a therapist would help, maybe he or she could dig deeper and find the root of some of this. Good luck
