My Hocd keeps playing the same trick.

I get moments when I zone out a little bit, or flashes when I can't remember what I was thinking about. I know the  HOCD is like a constant humming, but because I can't remember what was on my mind, I panic because the symptoms are still there during the flash (I hope this makes sense). What  I'm asking is, when you're not directly paying attention to the 'humming', are the symptoms still present? Does it matter if you're not 'thinking' about the HOCD? Or are these moments flashes of the real me, and HOCD is just denial? :(
