My Poor Child with OCD for 3 years since she was 10 years old

Dear All,  I would really aprpeciate if you can provide me some advise to help my daughter!

My daughter is 13yrs old now and has OCD for 3 years already, she needs to take a lot of medicines like : Anafanil, Zoloft, Diazepam since then. Her OCD started with washing rituals, strict checking, and gradually turned into saying and repeating same kind of conversation, words everytime she wish to talk on a certain subject.   Also, if she needed to do anything (like changing clothes, brushing her teeth, putting her shoes), she needed to force herself to keep on coughing for at least half an hour (not due to sickness) before she can starts.

During these few months, she is getting worse and worse and not even able to leave the house to attend school because she cannot finished the "coughing rituals" in order to put on her school uniform.  Everyday is a nightmare to all of us in the family, we are very sad to see her situation but also getting mad by what she is doing.

Please let me know what kind of help is available other then meds, which she is already taking? What are the chances of living a normal life when you have been diagnosed with this mental condition?  We have also brought her to see the doctor who wanted to teach her with CPT approach but she was unable to follow the instruction given?

She has had ocd for more than 3 years and it has gradually got worse, she isn't enjoying life like she could be.   As her mother, I feel very sad and desperate, please, please tell me what we can do to stop this devil goes on.

Thank you for all your advise and feedback.

OCD can be hard to treat. You could find out about newer and up to date treatments as they come out though. As for what you said "the coughing rituals" often Tourrette's Syndrome accompanies ocd and coughing or odd sounds that a person makes uncontrollably can be part of that. Ask her doctor about that. As well if her disability doesn't improve her school could set up accomodations around it.
