My niece hears voices

Okay, my 8yo niece has been diagnosed with OCD.  She is the sweetest thing but her OCD is definitely an issue.  She is repetitive and constatly loking for acceptance in what she does and others feelings towards her.  I personallly think some of this is brought on by her the way she has been brought up.  She has an older brother (11yo) who has special needs due to having seizures at a young age and always gets the "special attention".   A recent development is she has told her mother she is hearing voices.  This has happened on a couple occasions and she is seeing a psychologist soon about this.  

So the big question is:

Is hearing voices normal with a child and OCD issues?  What could some other issues be with these voices?  I udnerstand this could be a serious issue, but I honestly think it is learned behavior from her parents and not feeling accepted as much as her brother.

Children have auditory voices that they hear; it does not mean they are schizophrenic. Some OCD patients do report a voice that tells them what to do-which doesn't sound to be the case.

I think she is fine.  People overreact to children hearing voices.  Also, some medications can cause auditory hallucinations-medications for hyperactivity especially.

Don't stress her about it or make a big deal over it and it might pass.

She is only 8 years old.
