New Form of OCD?

I was diagnosed several years ago with OCD--I was convinced that I had AIDS despite negative tests for HIV.  Through medication (lexapro and remeron currently) and therapy, I was able to get it under control and have been more or less free of symptoms for about 10 years.  A few months ago, I began thinking that the world is going to end and I am going to stand in judgment by God.  It drives me to distraction because I spend hours each day checking news and religion sites on the Internet to confirm my fears.  I don't know if this is just another outlet for OCD or something entirely different.  I did a Google search on OCD and fear of the world ending, but didn't come up with anything.  Has anyone else in this forum experienced anything similar?

First of all speak to your psychiatrist about this. It has aspects of psychosis. There may be more going on. If it truly is from ocd, then cognitive behavioral therapy can be helpful in addition to medication and talk therapy. However, before I recovered from schizoaffective disorder I did have thoughts like this. Think about whether you really believe these thoughts or whether they are obsessions you know are untrue. But regardless of where its coming from one good thing to do is redirect your energy and stop checking anything that will confirm your fears and look up websites that will confirm that this won't happen. Also any clinically accurate website on ocd and other psychiatric disabilities is good as well. You are entitled to any religious belief system you want but you have to tell yourself this isn't true and encourage any thinking that will confirm what is reality and if you have trouble distinguishing between reality and these thoughts that's something to explain to a psychiatrist immediately. There is an aspect of mania and psychosis called "religiousity" as a specific symptom. You might want to look that up even if that's not where its coming from.
