OCD about skitzo :(

Ever since I developed a fear of skitz...I stopped watching shows that I used to love like law and order and true crime shows. Those shows often feature people that have a mental illness such as skitz. A lot of them also look a certain way, so now when I see people that resemble that overall look I kind of get like uneasy. I do not get scared or anything or think anyone is gonna harm me. I just get this creeped out feeling. Now I'm wondering oh ***** what if this develops into an actual fear of people or something.

PS over the years I've been through. HIV OCD, brain tumor OCD, heart problem OCD (I actually have a slight arrhythmia.

hahaha yeah I got you, it happens to me too, when im on HIV OCD I think that when I was tumor ocd or general health ocd this was stupid and vise versa... if you take a pause and think about how many OCD phases you have been through you will be amazed .... God help us all, its one of the hardest battles in life to live with OCD permanently

More and more I'm starting to feel like uhhh whatever this is annoying, it is what it is, I'm pretty sure I don't have or will have what I fear so I'm just gonna live. This has happened so many times before it's funny to stand aside and observe, hiv OCD, tumor OCD, heart OCD, now mental health (skitz) OCD.

nice hearing that from you, we must get to a point that we don't care about the future in a way of what is gonna happen to us and stuff, we should live the present and by doing so we are fighting OCD because OCD wants assurance and thinking about the future while anti-OCD is living the present ....

Hello everyone. I actually went to another doctor, this one specialized on Skitso and has treated hudreds of patients with it. He was head in various clinics that dealt with skitzophrenia and overseen a lot of research related to it. I felt like I needed to see a professional that specialized in skitzo before I calm down. His conclusion on me was that he firmly believes that I am not showing any signs of skitzophrenia. He said I do show traits of OCD, panics attacks, and hypochondria. So if anyone has a similar story as mine, maybe this can be of help to you. Thank you everyone for your support and time.

I think the response was correct because he knows that at this stage in the game you are not ready to accept rational thinking.  You are still in the doubting phase so he wants you to work on your anxiety because he knows that when that is tackled this whole thing about becoming or being skitzo will go away on its own.  Reassurance seeking is not something they are going to give into.  Reassurance only makes you feel better for a short time and then you are back at square 1.  Don't read into this....he is not saying you are skitzo.

So I spoke to the doctor (psychologist/anxiety specialist) according to him everything is explained by anxiety and being overly sensative to everything around myself. He did say one thing that upset me n seemed kind of off, I asked him so based on everything I've told you past two visits do u think it's possible that this could be skitzo or early signs of ot. He said I'm not gonna engage in that because that's not you asking that question that's anxiety and nothing I say is gonna satisfy you so I'm gonna just tell you when u get that urge to wanna know then u have to fight It and brush it off. Now I'm thinking I asked u a similar question after last visit and u were able to tell me then no it's not skitzo...y now that I added this stuff you don't wanna tell me the same thing. Also like wouldn't it be better to just say no it's not skitzo signs if u really believe that it's not what harm could be in it to say no it's not that. Sigh.

What if I walk outside and get run over by a bus....could happen but probably won't.

You need to get to a place where you finally say ENOUGH.  OCD is about control and we cannot control everything in our lives.

No no I don't mean that it leads to it....it certainly does not and psychologist told me themselves that it's completely unrelated and in another real from each other. What I was saying is if u read around for early signs of skitz...they are simply those that are in anxiety and depression. That's where my fear of it is rooted...what if all this anxiety and OCD is just early signs of something greater.

I really do see the pattern I'm completely aware that this had been me my whole life with these phases. Every single time the symptoms were so defining for everything I worried about that I pretty much said ok I have this, now how do I live with it. I'm thinking of going to someone who's a expert In diagnosing skitzo but then again I'm worried that they might be biased because their constantly looking for it. If you read predorm symptoms or whatever...pretty much anyone with anxiety or depression is at risk smh.

Even if you did, you would find something else to worry about.  Don't you see the pattern?  At some point you are going to find something you can't test for and then you will be without the resources to help yourself.

I wish I could accept OCD and move on...I have no issue dealing with it and learning how to handle it and coping. What bothers me is the constant thinking what if it's someone else. If only I could take a test for skitzophrenia.

Yes...things we see can be fuel for our OCD.  All the more reason to learn cognitive behavioral therapy.  It is one thing to be diagnosed but it is a completely different thing to be in treatment for it.  CBT is the first and best starting place for a person suffering from OCD.

Yes I have they labeled it anxiety/ panic attacks/OCD/

Come to think about it I used to have a similar disgust of the std clinic

I still watch some of the shows I just hate when's something related to mental unless comes up because it makes me think about it and I have to measure everything up to myself.

Like same thing with news, I don't like hearing that someone killed themselves or hacked their family to death that stuff is depressing and scary.

There are tests that can be done to determine schizophrenia as well.  But really that is not the issue here.  The issue is that you think a thought, you test, and then you move on to a different thought, you test, and move on.  Where does it end do you think?  You have already stopped watching shows that you used to enjoy.  Next thing you won't be leaving the house.  The time to get help is now.  Have you seen a psychologist about these thoughts?

Oh I was able to get by it because HIV u could just get tested for it, brain tumor also, heart issue I had a bunch of tests done. There's no test for skitzo so it's kind of lingering around for the longest.

What do u think about some ppl creeping me out...like it's not a fear and it's not of everyone but just some people that look like those resembling mental illness. Resembling mental illness I mean, I've read news articles about skitzo people or seen them in shows or movies and they all have this creepy messy look. That look weirds me out because I fear ever developing skitzo.

Also I watched American psycho and that movie freaked me out. For a while Wall Street looking people creeped me out.

Is this normal, I understand all of it is irrational. Even as I'm creeped out I'm at the same time thinking this is so irrational

That is how OCD works.  You find closure on one thing and something else pops up or something from the past rears its ugly head again.  So how did you get through the other OCD issues if that is indeed what happened?
