What problems does OCD cause in relationships?

I have not been diagnosed yet with OCD but I am thinking of seeing a dr.  I think i have had since i was 18. It was worse a few years ago when i would actually not even remeber what i was doing for 2 or 3 hrs. I would perform rituals and still do that along with counting and saying things over in my head. My question though is with relationships. When i have a question for my partner and she answers me i continue to ask it over and over again as if i dont like her answer. It's like im not sure if thats what i need or not. or if its the right answer. she feels as though i push and push looking for an answer thats not there. This is causing real issues with us and lots of stess. There is alot more things that i wonder about too. I wonder if it is the ocd too or am i just a really mean person. I am a very agitated person but again want alot of attention and if i dont get it i wonder what is wrong and i will ask whats wrong untill iget an answer that i feel ok with. It is really hurting my relationship. Is there anyone else out there that knows more about it or suffers from it? Love to chat with someone who understand it.

Hello,

I have education in Psychology, and Behavioral Science. I also have OCD. When I was reading your posting I was giggling because you are just like me. I do the same thing with my boyfriend, your not mean, you have Impulses you can't control, I suggest you do some reading and get a litttle education on the subject. Learning about what you have and understanding it is half your battle. I also want to add I have never taken medication over this. This is something you have to learn to deal with and help your partner understand you as well.

oops i sent that first one on accident lol. anyway i wanted to say thanks for the reply. Not that it's a good thing that you are having the same issues but it's good to know i am not alone. I have been reading up on OCD online but have not found much more than i already know. I just dont know how to control it. I can not just walk away when my partner talks to me and feels the conversation has been resolved. I jsut keep going and going until we are both pissed and fighting. The thing is, is that in my previous relationship it was the same way and it was really hard and we finally split. It was the only issue but it had a major impact on it. I am always so mad at myself and wonder why i cant just let it go. Things would be so good if i could. Well, i dont mean to talk your head off but guess i have never been able to
vent because knowone has understood.

If this is damaging your realtionships, see a therapist.  It is like doing the same thing over and expecting different reults.  Perhaps it is relationship issues along with the OCD ad self-esteem issues.  Is it old negative feelings coming up, limitng beliefs?  To actually get anywhere with it, I feel,  you made need someone trained to pick up on the little things such as, does she feel you are accusing her of lying when you do this, what is your motive, is it OCD?  Is it that big of a issue in your relationship?    Good luck
